The skill needed to build a compressed air motor has been around for many years. Technology that uses compressed air to drive old-fashioned car engine pistons instead of burning gas or diesel fuel works. Guy Negra, an ex formula 1 engineer, has applied himself to building production cars that run on compressed air and is about to launch a range of vehicles. The huge Indian car maker Tata has funded the technology.
The air car can travel 100 miles or so on a tank of compressed air at a top speed around 40 MPH .This will improve rapidly now production and funding is in place. This is sufficient distance for 80% of consumers to commute to work and back and complete daily tasks. They will sell for £2,500 for the basic model. Think of the £££££££££££s you will save each year on fuel bills apart from the environmental impact. Let's hope the oil companies don't step in and stick an oily spanner in the works.
Perhaps small bulk purchases of say five cars at a time would reduce the cost.
